    Curriculum and course content

On-campus and online students share the same curriculum and earn the same degree. The programs differ in the length of the individual courses. In the on-campus program, most courses run concurrently for the entire 15-week semester.

On-campus and online students share the same curriculum and earn the same degree. The programs differ in the length of the individual courses. In the online program, most courses run for five weeks, one after another, offering you opportunities to focus deeply on subject matter.

    Week-long orientation seminar

All students participate in the orientation seminar. For on-campus students, the seminar generally takes place on the Parsons campus in NYC.

All students participate in the orientation seminar. Online students have the option to take the seminar fully online or in person.

Option to complete the program from anywhere in the world

No. You are required to attend weekly on-campus classes.

Yes. Weekly synchronous online class sessions are scheduled on weekend mornings to accommodate students participating from around the world.

    Flexible schedule for working professionals

Most courses are held on weeknights, allowing daytime hours for professional commitments. Each semester, one asynchronous course enriches your learning through individual research (fall course), professional development (spring course), and the opportunity to finalize your capstone project (summer). (Students with daytime jobs can complete the degree entirely in the evening.)

Each week, you have at least one synchronous online class session of approximately three hours, which minimizes the program’s impact on your regular work schedule. These sessions are scheduled on the weekends at 9:00 a.m. ET, allowing weekday hours for professional commitments. Each semester, one full-semester asynchronous course enriches your learning through individual research (fall course), professional development (spring course), and the opportunity to finalize your capstone project (summer).

    Considerations for international students

The New School is able to grant F-1 and J-1 visas for international students enrolled in the on-campus program.

International students are welcome to pursue the online degree program but should be aware that F-1 or J-1 visas are not available for students who take courses in this format.

    Interaction with classmates

Multiple weekly on-campus classes enable you to engage in group work throughout each semester.

During the fall and spring terms, you attend weekly synchronous class sessions and engage in group work with your peers throughout the semester. In the summer, you attend two weekly synchronous sessions.

Access to on-campus events, resources, and facilities

You have full access to events and program-related facilities at Parsons and The New School during the course of your program.

You have access to digital libraries and on-site facilities and on-campus events when you are on campus during the course of your program.
