Melissa Monroe, part-time assistant professor of Liberal Studies, has previously taught English and linguistics at Stanford University and Fordham. She is interested in stylistics, translation and the intersection of literature and science. She is the author of Machine Language (1997), On Trepanation and Human Nature (2014), and Medusa Beach and Other Poems (2020). Her poems have appeared in various journals, including Parnassus: Poetry in Review, Raritan, Ploughshares and A Public Space.
