Memory studies, which in the last few decades began to thrive within different academic disciplines, has become particularly vital at a time when seemingly stable social, cultural, and political structures and realities are being dismantled and reconfigured. The NSSR Memory Studies Network brings together leading scholars in the field and graduate students from different parts of the university — social science, arts and design, and humanities — creating a special space for interdisciplinary discussion, scholarly innovation, and international exchanges of ideas, thus advancing discourse in the field. The group is open to both resident (NSSR-based) and non-resident members and will be linked to affiliated study groups abroad led by alumni of The New School. Its activities include monthly works-in-progress seminars, art events, guest talks, and annual conferences. For more information, send an email or visit the Memory Studies Facebook group. The group, supported by the Faculty Advisory Committee, is based at NSSR’s Transregional Center for Democratic Studies
