• Not all academic programs offer summer study or summer financial aid; you must check with your academic advisor and the Office of Financial Aid about the terms of your program before registering for summer.

    Applying for Summer Aid

    Once you have confirmed that you will be eligible for financial aid, you must submit the Summer Aid Application. 

    File Your FAFSA

    • The New School’s FAFSA code is 002780.
    • Check the priority deadline for each academic semester. Students who miss the priority deadline may still receive financial assistance, but certain types of aid may no longer be available.
    • If you are applying for the summer semester, you should submit FAFSA for the preceding aid year.

    Review Your Outstanding Requirements

    • You can view your requirements on MyNewSchool.
    • After you accept certain kinds of aid through your MyNewSchool account, such as Direct Loans, you must take additional steps, such as completing entrance counseling and signing a Master Promissory Note on studentaid.gov.
    • Federal Direct Loans may be available to students who enroll at least half-time in the summer. However, the summer semester is considered part of the preceding academic year, and the total amount of fall, spring, and summer federal loans cannot exceed the annual federal loan limit.
    • If you need additional financing, review options such as Federal PLUS Loans and private loans.
