Creative Technologies for Performative Practice

OVERVIEW

The minor in Creative Technologies for Performative Practice provides a technique-driven liberal arts approach to the creative, philosophical, and aesthetic dimensions of projection design in the context of theater arts. It fosters critical thinking and challenges the imagination through experiences with aesthetic inquiry, creative technologies and projection design, collaborative theater practice (devised theater), and participation in technique practice (electives in theater and design and in film and video production).

Students interested in the minor can simulate a worksheet that accounts for courses already completed and in progress using the “What If” feature in Degree Works.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

A student who has completed this minor should be able to demonstrate:

• The acquisition of a common vocabulary necessary to the discussion of plays
• An understanding of the role of artist and audience
• The ability to place works in the context of other artists’ work and artistic pursuits and of culture and society
• Knowledge of the vocabulary and use of design elements and compositional principles in projection design
• Clear research, documentation, and presentation in the articulation of a creative project
• Knowledge of and the ability to successfully use relevant design applications and technology

The ability to reflect on the ideas and work of peers and verbally engage in a way that furthers the collaborative and creative process
